Sutherlin says she's school board's leak
The Greenville News - 7/17/2001

Kudos to Ann Sutherlin!

Jason Zacher reports:

"School district attorney Wade Cleveland said he believes the leak would not violate state law but would violate board policy.

"Trustee William Herlong, who contended the leak could be punishable under the state's Trade Secrets Act, could not be reached for comment Monday."

A separate story found on the front page of The Greenville News (along with such important headlines as "Madonna named in strip club trial") is "Press attorney: Public had right to BEST bylaws."

Again, Jason Zacher quotes Jay Bender, an attorney for the South Carolina Press Association."I don't know why they thought the proposed by-laws could be withheld," Bender said. "Once the by-laws of this proposed corporation came to the school board, it was a public record."And Mr. Herlong? He lay low.
