Columbia, S.C. - December 29, 2005 - Gov. Mark Sanford today issued the following statement on the decision on the school equity lawsuit:

"We're going to continue reviewing this lengthy decision in its entirety to determine exactly what its implications are for our state's schools. We continue to believe that more must be done to achieve transformative change in South Carolina's educational system if our students are going to be able to compete in the 21st Century. That means getting more money to the frontlines of education, expanding educational choices for parents and getting more highly-trained teachers into the school districts and subject areas where they're needed most," Gov. Sanford said.
