South Carolina's gas price gouging
Doug from Columbia writes:

Actually, McMaster is very liberal.

He is an incumbent Republican, so he'll get no opposition in the primary. He's also very liberal, siding with the enviro-communists on just about every issue (and that's why he is the Sierra Club's "Man of the Year," and he has received an endirsement from the Conservation Voters), and that's why the Democrats aren't running anyone against him.

We have to do better, next time.

Hey since I'm getting busted for gouging anyway, for an extra $100 I'll get you your choice of gas can colors.

For a country that will pay $1 buck for a 16 ounce bottle of water I get tired of hearing about gas prices. They hurt hell out of all of us but if we all agreed to park our cars one day a week that we normally use them we could put a stop to this crap. We all are becoming Liberals. Controversy, crap and confusion!

If it weren't so sad, it'd be funny.

McMaster also said, “Under our competitive economic system, high prices or quick run-ups in prices are not and should not be illegal absent certain compelling circumstances. Taking risks and making a profit - or a loss - is the American way.” I'm curious what "certain compelling circumstances" makes the American way illegal.

Henry McMasters is just another showboating neo-con.

Hey, I'll tell you what.

Since every retail gasoline vendor has a huge sign out front stating how much they want for their product, how can the consumer incur any injury?

I'm not even in the gas retailing business, but if you want a gallon of unleaded regular, I'll sell it to you for the one time price of $189.95/gal. And I'll even include a genuine Wal-Mart plastic gas can to go with it and deliver it to anyone within 25 miles of Edisto Island.

So am I now guilty of 'price gouging'?

hmmm,
private businesses are not allowed to set their own prices.

people were not forced to purchase gas at these stations.

violation of the law results in a tax deduction.
