HeART Supports American Troops
PRESS RELEASE
May 25, 2005
COLUMBIA, SC – An effort is underway within state government to support a nationwide program called “America Supports You” launched by the U. S. Department of Defense. The program is designed to spotlight what Americans are doing to support our military personnel.
As a part of that effort, Commissioner Hugh Weathers has asked South Carolinians to join in providing for families of those who have been wounded in action or those who are seriously ill through Fisher House Foundation. Each Fisher House is a military version of the Ronald McDonald House and holds up to 22 families in separate sleeping facilities in homes near military hospitals.
Half of the proceeds from the HeART of Agriculture notecards will be reserved for the Fisher House Foundation project. Four watercolors of barn scenes painted by South Carolina artists were reproduced into sets of 12 notecards with envelopes will now sell at a reduced price of $5 per set.
To order your HeART of Agriculture notecards in support of our nation’s Armed Forces, send a check or money order for $5 for each set payable to ADVOCATES FOR AGRICULTURE, and mail to Heart of Agriculture, PO Box 11280, Columbia, SC, 29211.
To learn more about what other Americans are doing to support the troops or to tell how you are supporting them personally through this and other efforts, visit the Department of Defense website at http://www.americasupportsyou.mil and click on Join the Team. After you submit your message, click on the Stars and Stripes link and you will receive a free "America Supports You" dog tag.
