Solicitor Donnie Myers would seem to have a lot more explaining to do to the people of the 11th Circuit. Residents in this area depend on Myers to protect them from all criminal activity, including drunk drivers who threaten the safety of us all. Myers was arrested and for DWI in Asheville recently with a half full, cold to the touch, can of Budweiser in his car. He was driving a state car funded by taxpayers at the time of his arrest.
"It is puzzling that Mr. Myers hasnít said or done more to explain his actions. Why would our solicitor be driving around in another state in a taxpayer funded car drinking a beer in the middle of the night?" asked Lexington County Democratic Party Chair Kathy Hensley. "And more importantly, why isnít he explaining his actions?"
Hensley pointed out that an assistant solicitor in Orangeburg was recently arrested for DUI and was immediately suspended without pay until trial.
"Mr. Myers acts like there isnít a problem. He needs to do more than turn in his car. Should he be found guilty, itís hard to imagine how he could remain an effective prosecutor."
