GOP Statement concerning Karen Floyd
PRESS RELEASE
November 22, 2006

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) - South Carolina Republican Party Chairman, Katon Dawson today
released the following statement:

"We are saddened to learn of Karen Floyd's decision not to pursue a challenge in the race for Superintendent of Education.  This election remains the closest in our state's history.

Over the past week, our team discovered ample evidence of voting improprieties and irregularities in many counties throughout the state.  And while the Party believes enough evidence existed to warrant a new election, we respect Karen's decision to move forward.

"Karen ran an energetic campaign with an innovative vision necessary to move our state forward.  While her decision is regrettable, we hope that Karen's vision of positive change for our state's education system and our children's future will continue."
