Haywood,
Can I post some articles on your blog?

Nelson, why not submit an article to Jonathan (the editor) and see if he posts it here.
The comments following your article would certainly 'stir the pot' as you said.

Isn't Jean married to that nutjob Frank in Neveda who couldn't handle maintaining the sister site there? It's sad that people like Jean are so insecure about their god that they can't handle disagreement. Just goes to show the dangers of religious belief. |

Nelson, Jean is correct: you have to be a TCV member and log in to access the Forum. (I have no idea what the rest of her tirade was about, though. My only response to it is "whatever".)
You might also try linking you site to the "Blog Pot". I don't know how to do that, but it says that you have to have a "theblogpot.com" account. If you've already got a website you can probably figure that out yourself.
By the way, I agree with you about term limits and will visit your website. Good luck with it!

"First, I want to wake up and never have to touch the site! Ideally, the editor should never have to put up any headlines."
Wouldn't everyone want a website tended totally by someone else. I wonder just how much could be posted on this site since the person the site belongs to really does enjoy have other persons do his "job" for him. The person who owns the site professes to embrace Christianity, yet, he has allowed people to blaspheme the name of God. People have the right to their opinions and I am expressing mine. If you are a Christian you cannot separate your business from that fact. You cannot separate your politics from that fact.
Christianity is a way to act. To paraphrase the scripture "The way we act is the way we are". With all due respect, sir, you will not support those persons who do all the work for you when comments violate their principles. Each person who operates a state site for you posts headlines on their site and those headlines are immediately relected on The Common Voice. These operators of the state sites have the right to block those members from posting on their particular site but that person can go to The Common Voice and keep up their tirade against God and Country and nothing is done about it. The scripture says "he who confesses Me before men, him will I confess before My Father Who Is In Heaven."! Sometimes, one's actions can refute their confession.

If you are a member of "The Common Voice" and cannot access the Forum perhaps you are doing as I have done. You reach the site, the headlines pique your curiosity and you forget to log in. The forum is only accessible to members. |

Jonathan, how much would a comment section on the poll question cost? |

You have to wait for (or post) a headline from a news story (preferably) and then people can comment to it.
Or, we could use this discussion to debate the poll question about bumper stickers, or ask that there be a comment section added for the poll questions in general.
I'm for term limits.

The Common Voice sounds like it's just the ticket for my obsession, which is to stir the pot for Congressional Term Limits
For just over a year now I have been building the website
tenurecorrupts.com, and putting all my thoughts on pros and cons, kinds of amendments, strategies, etc, into the site. I have so far written a couple dozen blog entries, some of which I have tried to get published in national media, with very modest success.
How do I best start a discussion on Common Voice about Congressional Term Limits ? The 'forum' link on this page is not active for me. Is there something I don't understand ?

Common Voice?
Sounds like Commie Pinko propaganda to me.
Just kidding. It's the bleeding edge of Web 2.0.

Sorry this is for the headline "Why Child Rapist Was Classified Least Likely To Re-offend"

I think this is appalling! It seems everyone these days is so concerned about helping sex offenders with treatment rather than punishing them for the crime they commited. The fact remains that the majority of child sex offenders do reoffend.
Maybe if there were tougher laws there would be changes. Sex offenders have to be stopped.
Someone has to show this little girl , who is scarred for the rest of her life that the person who did this is paying for what he did. This is the wrong message to send to all sex offenders out there and their victims.
This judge should be removed from the court if he cannot enforce the law and set forth a punishment (not a slap on the wrist)
Doesnt abusing a child repeatedly over 4 years constitute repeat offending. He did not just abuse her one time. The fact that is was the same child should not be any different that if it were different children. He reoffended for 4 years and therefore should be higher risk.
The Vermont courts need to appeal this sentence. |
