The Gettysbush Address for the Inaugural

I agree with ending the war.

I would have to see the details for cutting domestic spending and taxs before deciding.

Personally, I'm for ending the "war" (and all the other silly "wars" our government claims to be "fighting") and cutting domestic spending, along with a corresponding cut in taxes.

Do you have a problem with that?

Yes, spending a billion dollars a week in Iraq is a very big problem.

And, we never had tax cuts during wartime before.

So, tax cuts plus war trumps domestic spending.

Mike,

How about a response to my previous comment:

Are you forgetting that in order to have deficits, you first have to SPEND?

How about we stop blaming "tax cuts" for the problem and begin to cut spending? Would that not work, or is there some liberal spin you can put on that, also?

So, Joeeeee, you have a family member trying to make some money as opposed to fighting.

That's fine since he can leave when he wants and he went voluntarily. I meant combat.

The 20% of the country that is still fighting Americans is almost half the population of the country.

And, the Tax Cuts Caused 56% Of Deficit In 2004: In 2004, Bush's three tax cuts over as many years reduced revenues by $270 billion. In 2003, Bush's tax cuts caused 44 percent of the deficit; the tax cuts reduced revenues by $166 billion in 2003 under a $375 billion deficit. [Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, 10/21/03]

"Hey, Joeeeeeee, are you willing to send your family to Iraq to honor your commander in chief?" - Massah Mikey

As I stated in an earlier post, I have a family member there drilling wells and providing public water & sewer infrastructure for those in need.

"we are spending a billion dollars a week on Iraq and we still haven't made the road safe from Baghdad airport to the city of Baghdad." - Massah Mikey

Thats true. That one road between the city and our main airbase (a prime target area for insergents) IS difficult to maintain security, since it's a primary corridor for targeting Coilition forces. And in these couple of weeks before their first free elections, many more attacks will occur to try to stop the people from having a say in the election of their new government.

On the other hand, 80% of the rest of the country is pretty safe. In Kurdish held northern Iraq there are less than 100 American military personel overseeing more than a third of this nation in the peaceful and prosperous Kurdistan region. My Iraqi friend in Charleston's sister is no longer harrassed and sanctioned by the government for being a Christian and she says her daughters are allowed to attend school. They have water, electricity and satilite dish television, all of which was scarce during the Sadam regime. I guess Massah Mikey doesn't recall that after the civil war, President Lincoln was voted into office by only 80% of the states as approx. 20% didn't participate in that post-war election.

"Joeeeeeeee does not mention that we have the largest deficit and national debt ever because of W's tax cuts" - Massah Mikey

The CBO says that the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts are responcible for only around 20% of the deficit. The remaining 80% is from other causes, primarily overspending on the part of a Repubilcrat congress where the members carry on that fine tradition of using our tax bucks to buy votes and get re-elected.

Like I said, selective memory is alive and well on the Cubelo Plantation.

Figures that Joeeeeeeee gives more priority to tax cuts than the cutting short of soldiers' lives.

But, even on taxes, Joeeeeeeee does not mention that we have the largest deficit and national debt ever because of W's tax cuts.

Joeeeeeee also does not mention that we are spending a billion dollars a week on Iraq and we still haven't made the road safe from Baghdad airport to the city of Baghdad.

And, W and his family remain safe from the mess they created.

Hey, Joeeeeeee, are you willing to send your family to Iraq to honor your commander in chief?

"Four years and 1300 dead soldiers ago, I, George W. Bush, brought forth into this world a new, negative view of our nation, one based on arrogance and dedicated to the proposition that either you are with us or against us." - Massah Mikey

Yo Dude, four years ago, Gee Dubya was bringing forth into this world a 1.3 Trillion Dollar tax cut plan to get us out of the recession that he inherited from the previous administration. His plan was to cut taxes for EVERYONE that pays them, with the largest percentage cuts going to those at the bottom rung of the economic ladder.

But your Democrat party was able to effectively postpone the tax cuts and "phase them in" over a period of years, starting in 2003. That's when any meaningful cuts would occur, when any meaningful job growth and economic benefits would help kick start the economy.

Four years ago, the previous administration discounted the threat of Islamo-terrorism and passed that concept on to the Bush administration.

Eight months later September 11th destroyed not only a billion bucks worth of real estate and 3000 unfortunate victims, but it also destroyed over a million jobs as the economy took another nose dive.

I guess your selective memory works quite well on your plantation.
