Stavrinakis makes bid for SC House of Representatives
Benj Buck
March 10, 2006

Leon Stavrinakis says that he wont attempt re-election for Charleston County Council where he is chairman.  Instead, Stavrinakis says he will run for the State House of Representatives, District 119.

During his announcement yesterday, Stavrinakis said, "I am proud to have worked
across party lines to fight out of control growth, improve planning, and to have never, ever voted for a property tax increase."

Stavrinakis sees the many obsticles for state leaders. "Our community faces many challenges ahead," Stavrinakis admits. "We must improve our schools; we must protect our natural resources from sprawling growth, we have to do more to protect our families from violent crimes and drugs, and we must have tax reform now."

Stavrinakis, a Democrat, will run against the Republican incumbent John Graham Atlman.
